Welcome to Matthew Peaster's Wildlife Photography. Matthew is an award winning specialist Wildlife Photographer based in Somerset. The Quantock Hills provide the inspiration to fuel this passion. Within a stones throw there is Exmoor National Park, The Mendips, The Blackdown Hills, The Somerset Levels and the West Somerset Coast - a wildlife photographer's haven.

The Quantocks and Exmoor are home to wild Red and Roe Deer, the focus of my photography. There's something special about trying to photograph these fantastic animals in the wild - in it's primitive form ''its man against beast'', trying to outwit the animal or read it's behavior to maximize a photographic opportunity. All other images - from wild flowers, landscapes and birdlife are all related to these deer images - deer inhabit the most diverse habitats - while looking or waiting for the deer there's often something else to be photographed. 

Through this website I hope you can find some images which demonstrate not only the kinds of images that I have taken but also the style of my photography. With the Red Deer 'it's up close and personal' but for many images I also like to show the animals in their natural environment.

In the Gallery pages you can search for images of wild Rutting Stags, Wild Flowers or spectacular displays of Starling murmurations. Whilst there are many images throughout the website the images displayed are just the tip of the iceberg, there are many more on file so if you see something close to what you would like then please use the contact page to ask.
